The ayahuasqueros, Matt and Jeanae have spent years studying in Iquitos, Peru completing master plant dietas under the guidance of their teacher, famed shaman Don Ron Wheelock. Together they share a linage from very well respected and powerful indigenous Peruvian healers . We offer a high participant-to-facilitator ratio, so that we can support each individual on their journey both inside and outside the ceremonial space.
With a focus on integrating our daily lives in a sustainable way that allows us to coexist with nature, we implement practices to minimize our environmental impact as much as possible. Our eco- wood cabins are seamlessly blended into the surrounding tropical forest and offers harmonious accommodation for our ayahuasca retreats Costa Rica.

THE AYAHUASCA CEREMONIES
HEALING THROUGH PERUVIAN TRADITONS
The goal of our ceremonies is to create a safe and therapeutic atmosphere that encourages each participant to explore and journey within themselves, to confront the darkness, and embrace the light. It is only through this duality and embracing all parts of ourselves that we can truly know ourselves and find balance.
Our ayahuasqueros Matthew and Jeanae leads all our ayahuasca ceremonies. Matthew has been involved with plant medicine since 2011, first with Ibogaine in Mexico on HBO's VICE and then again in Costa Rica. In 2014 he felt called to work more intimately with ayahuasca and started traveling to Peru, completing plant medicine dietas under the guidance of his teacher, famed shaman Don Ron Wheelock. Jeanae started joining him in the work and together they have formed a deep connection not only in their marriage but in their ceremonial work.
Together they have completed many master plant dietas, have facilitated hundreds of ceremonies, and are strong and compassionate ceremonial leaders. They strive to create a safe healing environment for all our participants. Our ceremonies are offered in darkness and are guided by Icaros, or medicine songs. Each ceremony begins with cleansing rituals to prepare the space. From there, the night is guided through Icaros accompanied by a variety of other instruments.
Matthew and Jeanae drinks the brew at every ceremony so he can navigate and guide the energy of the room. A minimum of 2 additional helpers are always there to assist as needed

The ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat facility was designed to blend into the environment that surrounds it. Each of our 10 cabins was built with wood harvested directly from the 9-acre property. Our pool and cool water jacuzzi are nestled amongst local flora and fauna. We receive regular visits from macaws, howler monkeys, caotis, and iguanas.
The retreat at New Life Ayahuasca Costa Rica is a testament to the harmonious coexistence between comfort and ecological mindfulness, offering an unforgettable experience that honors the earth and rejuvenates the soul.

A CENTER FOR HEALING
Hi! We are Jeanae and Matthew, owners of NLA. We have both experienced significant life transformation with the assistance of plant medicine, first with iboga and then ayahuasca. We both came from backgrounds filled with addiction, depression, and just an overwhelming feeling of being lost. Finally, after many failed attempts through traditional modalities, we were able to gain a new perspective on life and realize deep healing through plant medicine. It is with this humble respect and gratitude for ayahuasca that we have created a program for others seeking to find balance in life.

AYAHUASCA SAFETY
Ayahuasca is safe when used properly, however, there are known risks associated with its use.
The primary safety concern is with interactions between Ayahuasca and other drugs/medications which could have adverse interactions or even fatal consequences. To ensure the safety of all our guests, we require every participant to complete a medical questionnaire over the phone before booking. In addition to the screening protocol, New Life Ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat center is equipped with emergency medical equipment such as an AED (automatic electronic defibrillator) and emergency medications. Jeanae and Matthew are certified in CPR and AED use. We always have 2 assistants at every ceremony to respond when needed.
Beyond physical safety, we safeguard our energetic space. Our training has equipped us with the ability to hold a ceremonial space with expertise and care. We use spirit allies for protection and possess the knowledge of when and how to interact with any spirits or entities that may enter the ceremonial space. As part of our mission to provide safe experiences, we limit our groups so that the ceremonial container can be maintained through the powerful energetic exchange not only from Ayahuasca but by each participant in the group.
