AFFORDABLE AYAHUASCA RETREAT IN COSTA RICA
ACCESSIBLE HEALING FOR ALL
AFFORDABLE AYAHUASCA RETREAT IN COSTA RICA
Simply, we do this work because we are passionate about it and we are indebted to Ayahuasca for all she has given us in our lives. We are among the most affordable ayahuasca retreat options in Costa Rica, and we strive to keep our prices and programs accessible to people from all walks of life. While we must consider the high cost of living in Costa Rica, we are committed to offering a transformative experience at a price that reflects our dedication to making this healing journey available to everyone. We do this work out of passion, not for profit, and our focus is always on the well-being of our guests.
We understand that financial constraints can be a barrier for some, which is why we are open to helping those in special circumstances. If you are facing financial difficulties but feel called to this healing journey, we encourage you to reach out and share your situation. If there’s any way we can assist or accommodate you, we will do our best to make it possible for you to attend.
WHY DO AYAHUASCA RETREAT PRICES VARY SO MUCH?
When searching for an affordable ayahuasca retreat you might find yourself confused by the huge price differences between retreats. For example, in Peru you might be able to find retreats in the $1500 - $2000 range, whereas in Costa Rica most retreats are in the $3000 - $5000 range. Why is there such a significant difference?
Many factors contribute to the overall pricing of retreats. The first is that Costa Rica is a very expensive country. Prices here are about 3x more expensive than Peru on average. There are a lot of expenses that go into running a retreat, including venue rental, food, staff payments, utilities, cost of medicine, transport fees and administrative expenses associated with website, payment processing fees, bank fees, etc.
However, when you look at places that are charging upward of $5000 per person and taking groups of 20 – 90 people, it is clear to see that the operation is money-motivated. For example, recently we shared a rental space with another retreat that charged double what we charge. They offered the same basic services at the same venue with a similar number of participants and it was very clear that there was no justifiable reason for the extra cost other than being profit-driven.
NEW LIFE AYAHUASCA - A LEGACY OF HEALING
New Life Ayahuasca is the oldest ayahuasca retreat in Costa Rica. Operating since 2014, we have over a decade of experince in this work. The last 10 years have given us a very unique opportunity to reflect on what has worked for us and for our guests, and what hasn’t. We’ve seen the evolution of ayahuasca retreats as psychedelics have boomed as a cultural phenomenon, especially within Costa Rica. We’ve seen centers open and close. We’ve seen the bastardization of the medicine and the gross commercialization of retreats. Over time, we’ve had to adjust our prices to more than 3 times what they were initially, primarily due to the exponentially rising cost of living in Costa Rica. Through it all, we’ve learned what it really takes to continue doing this work while keeping our guests safe and ourselves sane (spoiler – It’s the dietas).
But most importantly, we’ve built a beautiful community of New Lifers! Over the last decade, we’ve met thousands of people at various stages of life, health, and healing. It has been an honor to be a part of the journey of each and every soul that has passed through our retreat. We’ve had the privilege to follow our guest’s journeys; from starting marriages (even having a few engagements and honeymoons at the retreat), starting families, changing careers, making major relocations, starting businesses, dissolving businesses, enduring heartache, loss and grief. We have seen people heal, discover joy, be inspired, embrace their value, discover purpose, quit smoking, quit drinking, adopt new lifestyles, and experience true peace. So many of our guests have become our best friends, and gratitude isn’t a strong enough word for the appreciation we have for the connections we’ve made.
We'd love to have you join us.
THE RETREAT
A PLACE FOR HEALING
Hi! We are Matt and Jeanae, a married couple with over a decade of experience working with plant medicine.
After experiencing our own healing with ayahuasca, we have had the privilege and honor of guiding thousands of people on their own healing journeys. Our values are deeply rooted in the Peruvian Mestizo Ayahuasca traditions and as dedicated students of the medicine, we have completed many Master-plant dietas in the Amazon jungle.
Through these experiences, we have learned how to create and maintain a safe energetic container while singing traditional medicine songs called Icaros. Together, we can help you access and integrate the profound spiritual experiences and healing that Ayahuasca offers.
New Life Ayahuasca retreat Costa Rica balances comfort and ecological mindfulness, offering an unforgettable experience that honors the earth and rejuvenates the soul.

THE SHAMAN
Matt and Jeanae have been working with plant medicine since 2014. It was through ceremonial work that they met and where their love was forged.
Together they have been trained through a powerful lineage of healers in the Peruvian Mestizo traditions going back generations. Matthew and Jeanae are deeply dedicated to their path and continue to grow in their work by traveling to the Amazon every year and completing master plant dietas. These dietas allow them to connect with the great spirits and receive insightful teachings and medicine songs called Icaros. They use these tools and songs in the ceremonies to guide the participants through the ayahuasca experience.
Matthew possesses a strong intuition and is highly sensitive to energetic subtleties. These skills allow him to adapt the songs of the ceremony to meet the energy needs of the room. Jeanae has a very gentle and nurturing energy. Her singing and flute playing invite softness into the space. Matthew brings a grounded masculine energy while Jeanae brings a motherly feminine energy, creating a perfect balance and play between the two polarities.
To provide responsible ceremonies, we limit our ayahuasca retreat size to 14 participants so that the energetic space is maintained with respect to each individual's experience. We offer our ayahuasca Costa Rica retreat ceremonies in darkness, promoting an inward journey to heal the soul. Jeanae and Matthew are passionate about this work and lead each ceremony with love, compassion, and a desire to share the beauty of the sacred medicine with all who seek healing.
Your physical and emotional safety are our highest priority.
While ayahuasca is safe when used properly, there are a few medical conditions and medications that are contraindicated with ayahuasca. Every participant is asked to complete a medical questionnaire over the phone to ensure the safety of our ayahuasca retreats. In case of emergency, Matt and Jeanae are certified in CPR and have training with the use of our AED (Automated External Defibrillator). We are 25 minutes from a medical center.
Our small groups enable us to provide quality service and attention to every guest. Each ceremony is supported by 4 team members : Our ayahuasqueros, Matthew and Jeanae, who drink ayahuasca with each group to help guide the experience and 2 additional helpers, who do not drink during the ceremony and are there to assist any participant that may require attention. A male responds to the men and a female responds to the women, ensuring that everyone feels safe and comfortable during such a vulnerable and emotional experience.
